Fiction Prize

The Mammon Prize for Fiction

Status: OPEN — October 20 to December 15, 2026

Mammon is a business publication with literary pretensions. We don’t need the story to be about money, but it would be nice if there were a high-rise, wi-fi, or a Bloomberg Terminal in it.

What we want

  • One story, 3,000 to 9,000 words, in English
  • Fiction about corporate work in any register — realist, Bernhardian, maximalist
  • Previously unpublished (personal blogs and workshops don’t count as publication)

What we don’t want

  • AI-generated or AI-assisted prose
  • Bright Lights, Big City re-writes
  • Kafka fan fiction
  • Stories that are too preachy
  • Simultaneous submissions are fine; tell us immediately if the story is taken elsewhere

The prize
$500 and publication on mammon.news, with full byline and author’s note. One winner; no runners-up.

Rights
You keep your copyright. By submitting you grant nothing. If you win, we ask for first worldwide serial rights and the right to keep the story in our archive; all rights revert to you on publication.

How to submit
Email the story as a .docx or .pdf to fiction@mammon.news with “MAMMON PRIZE — [Title]” in the subject line. Include a short bio in the body. Name and contact details on the manuscript’s first page, Times or similar, double-spaced. One entry per writer. No fee.

Judging
No personal editorial feedback on rejections. Every entry is read and judged by Felipe Cabrera, editor of Mammon. No AI or automated tools are used to screen, rank, or evaluate submissions. The winner will be notified by December 15, 2027 and published in January 2027. Entrants will be notified of results by email.
